How to work with an announcer

When you hire a professional announcer, it’s important to capitalize on that investment to make your show sizzle.  Here are tips to get the most out of your “show pro”:

Your announcer is one of your performers – extend the same courtesies and benefits you provide to other performers.

Make the announcer sound good – If the announcer’s package does not include a sound system, be sure to get a good one designed for outdoor use – not a concert system.

Provide Information – Your announcer needs information to properly represent your show. Details about sponsors, performers, special guests, promotions etc make your show more exciting.

Feed the announcer.  Hopefully your show day will be bright and sunny, and the announcer will spend most of it on the stand – provide plenty of food and water and ready access to restroom facilities.

Provide sponsor copy – Sponsors, who are the lifeblood of your show, expect to hear their name and message.  Help the announcer make your sponsors happy.

Provide comfortable lodging – your announcer performs better with a good night’s rest.

Get a license – Prevent a lawsuit.  ICAS provides an easy and affordable way to obtain all the necessary licenses to protect your show from copyright infringement.
